Frequently Asked Questions - PC 1300 SIGMA SPORT

How to set the time on the PC 1300?
Press MENU to access the time screen. Hold SET for 2 seconds until 'hold' disappears. Use SET to choose 12H/24H, confirm with MENU. Then set the hours and minutes with SET and confirm with MENU.
How to wear the chest strap?
Attach the transmitter to the elastic belt via the loops. Place it under the pectorals (men) or under the chest (women), with the Sigma Sport logo visible. Moisten the conductive strips with ECG gel or saliva for good contact.
How to program the high and low heart rate limits?
From the Hi-Lo-In screen (press MENU), hold SET for 2 seconds until '100' flashes. Set the upper limit with SET (100-240), confirm with MENU. Then set the lower limit (30-179) with SET and confirm with MENU.
What does the AVG display mean?
AVG displays your average heart rate during exercise. This function is active only when the stopwatch (STP) is running.
How to use the fat burning function (KCAL)?
From the KCAL screen, hold SET until 'hold' disappears. Choose male (M) or female (F) with SET, confirm with MENU. Set the weight in kg or lb, then select the activity factor according to the table (e.g., medium cycling = 00055). Confirm with MENU.
How to change the battery of the heart rate monitor?
Battery replacement must be done by a specialized retailer to ensure water resistance. The watch battery is a CR2025/DL2025. Incorrect replacement voids the warranty. After replacement, the KCAL factor resets to 00069 and must be reprogrammed.
Why is my heart rate not displaying?
Check that the conductive strips of the transmitter are clean and well-moistened. Move away from sources of interference (high-voltage lines, etc.). If the problem persists, check the transmitter battery (CR2032).
How to reset the stopwatch or AVG/MAX values?
To reset the stopwatch, hold the SET button for 2 seconds. For AVG or MAX, go to the corresponding screen and hold SET for 2 seconds.
What to do if the screen darkens or turns black?
This can happen at temperatures below 1°C or above 55°C. Bring the device back to room temperature. If the display disappears, have a professional replace the battery (CR2025/DL2025).
Is the PC 1300 waterproof?
Yes, the heart rate monitor and transmitter are waterproof up to 3 meters. However, the buttons should not be used underwater, and using it in sea water is not recommended.

II. Explaining and setting the training functions

The heart rate (Hr) is displayed in beats per minute.

1. Maximum Heart Rate- Maximum test

The maximum heart rate Hr MAX is your present maximum heart rate if you go to the limits of your capability. The individual Hr max depends on your age, your sex and your fitness level. The best way to determine the individual Hr max is a stress test.

We recommend you to see a doctor to do this test and to repeat it regularly.

The Hr max may also be estimated by means of the following mathematical equation.

Men: 210 - half age - (0.11 x personal weight + 4)

Women: 210 - half age - (0.11 x personal weight)

2. The right heart rate for training

The training zone is the variation of the heart rate you want to train in for effective training

An indication is:

65 % of the Hr max is your lower limit for training and 80 % of the Hr max should be your top limit. You can find out your estimated heart rate zone looking at the chart in accordance with your goals.
